** This course will provide the participant with 1 BACB® PDU Credit**
Description of PD Event: Are you running on empty? Tossing around the term "burnout" or feeling "burnt out"? This PDU is just for you! This presentation reframes burnout as a result of environmental and behavioral factors—such as high demands and lack of reinforcement—rather than a personal failing, and provides actionable tools to help staff maintain their well-being and quality of service.
About the Instructor: What’s up y’all! It’s me, Nicole from the SNABA fam! I bring to your courses over 10 years of experience from a variety of settings including in homes, in clinics, and in schools. My experience across all things SNABA provides learners with an in-depth application of the science of behavior. I am in all settings an educator, taking pride in a gentle approach to learning, allowing the learner to navigate their learning experience, and develop critical thinking and autonomy (for both children and adult learners). I continue to teach undergraduate psychology courses at SNHU as an adjunct professor while pursuing my doctoral degree. My passion is sharing the benefits of science with everyone.
Target Audience: RBTs (and RBT trainees)
Learning Objectives for Participants:
- Define burnout and identify its common signs in themselves (exhaustion, cynicism/detachment, feeling ineffective).
- Describe, in plain behavioral terms, common workplace factors that contribute to RBT burnout (e.g., high demands, low reinforcement, unclear expectations).
- Apply at least three self-management strategies to support their own well-being at work.
- Demonstrate how to communicate a workload or support concern to a supervisor professionally and specifically.
- Identify appropriate resources and when to seek additional support, consistent with the RBT role and Ethics Code.
To earn credit, you will be required to watch all video lessons and pass a quiz with a score of 80% or higher. You can retake the quiz as many times as needed, but you may not receive exactly the same questions each time.
