Research Abstract: Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) is broad, and the path toward a career in the field may look very different across professionals. The type of OBM job one gets depends on many factors, including their personal and professional goals, interests, and the experience they pursue to develop themselves professionally. This paper offers guidance to those seeking a career in OBM by providing suggestions related to defining a vision, connecting with other professionals to learn about OBM jobs, defining career goals, crafting and executing a plan to get the education and experience needed, and development as a professional.

Description of Ethics Learning Type CE Event:This is your chance to “drop in” to our monthly Research Review Club from 9/14/25 that covered: “Using Differential Reinforcement of a Discard Response to Treat Pica” by Slocum et al. (2017). 1 General Learning CEU will be provided to watch the recording of the online discussion and complete a final quiz based on the live discussion.
Research Abstract: Previous research on the treatment of pica (i.e., the ingestion of inedible objects) is limited compared to research on the treatment of other types of severe problem behavior. This study involved the use of differential reinforcement of alternative behavior, with a discard response as the alternative behavior, to treat pica presented by a 13‐year‐old girl with an autism spectrum disorder. We extended previous research by thinning the schedule of reinforcement for the alternative response. Substantial reductions in pica were obtained. Limitations and future directions in the treatment of pica are discussed.

Description of Ethics Learning Type CE Event:This is your chance to “drop in” to our monthly Research Review Club from 11/16/25 to cover: The Ethical Landscape of Behavior Analysis Forums on Reddit by Price et al. (2024). 1 Ethics Learning CEU will be provided by watching the recording of the online discussion and completing a final quiz based on the live discussion.
Research Abstract: The Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) released the third iteration of ethical practice guidelines for certificants, which went into effect on January 1, 2022. This Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts (hereafter Ethics Code) is streamlined and more enforceable than its predecessors, with the continued overarching directive to improve consumer protection. In the decades after the BACB was founded, the internet and social media have become ubiquitous in daily life, including within applied behavior analysis (ABA). Social media can benefit ABA stakeholders by providing access to enhanced professional networks, practitioner resources, and study guides or social support for behavior analysis students. However, the use of social media leads to a potentially increased risk of ethical concerns. Therefore, the authors of this article sought to explore how behavioral products in ABA social media forums on Reddit align with the Ethics Code. Findings suggest that most user engagement in ABA subreddit is ethical, but users also engage in ways that potentially misalign with the Ethics Code. Finally, the authors describe implications for future research and practice to promote ethical user engagement online by ABA practitioners.
